Designed for Purpose

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:16-17 (NASB 1995)

You are a precious jewel in the hands of God. Never doubt your value! God has designed you like no one else, and He has a purpose only you can fulfill.

The God Factor

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” (Romans 8:31, NASB)

Factor God into life’s problems. He has all the solutions!

Evidence of Royalty

“The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,” (Romans 8:16, NASB)

The struggle you experience to choose God’s way and reject the world’s way gives evidence of your royal identity.

Wrestling Match

“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:5, NASB)

Every follower of Jesus Christ endures the wrestling match between sinful flesh and God’s indwelling Spirit. Whichever you train the most typically wins your next decision. Therefore, lift prayer and bench press the Word.

Who’s Speaking?

“But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interest, but man’s.” (Matthew 16:23, NASB)

Jesus was so familiar with His Father’s voice that He easily recognized Satan speaking even though the voice came from Peter. We, too, must become intimately familiar with our Lord’s voice that we readily identify the enemy’s voice even when it is coming from a friend.

As you and I read God’s Word and listen for His voice in prayer, our soul comes to know the tone and truth of our Savior’s words. Time spent listening to the Lord God can prevent you from spending time listening to lies.

Silence.

But the people were silent and answered him not a word, for the king’s commandment was, “Do not answer him.” (2 Kings 18:36, NASB 1995)

Sometimes remaining silent in the fact of mockery and threat is best especially when such ridicule is projected against righteousness. For sometimes, silence speaks louder and clearer than words.

CLING!

For he clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses. (2 Kings 18:6, NASB 1995)

This was King Hezekiah’s life plan.

Later, fear deceived him into faltering but God mercifully saved Hezekiah from his own foolishness though learning the lesson was not pleasant for him.

No one is perfect. God knows this and, I believe, He helps those who desire and strive to honor Him even when they stumble.

Opposition Placement

They also broke down the sacred pillar of Baal and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day. (2 Kings 10:27)

God is quite capable of handling those who oppose His children.

Am I Beautiful?

Dearest Daughter,

It’s foolish for the world to claim a certain look or style is most desirable. Trends and fads are merely the changing opinions of Hollywood producers and marketing execs scrambling for dollars and influence. A quick google search reveals the favored size, shape, and look of a female changes every decade.

Only God, your Creator, has the right to determine true beauty because God sees not only the outside of you but your inner thoughts and feelings too. God says,

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”  1 Peter 3:3-4

True beauty is found only within a godly, loving, and gentle heart. If you are kind, honest, dependable, respectful, you are beautiful. Real beauty is not in your appearance. Do not let your appearance determine what you think about yourself. Remember, physical beauty eventually fades away because we live in a fallen world in which our physical bodies wear down and die.

However, a beautiful heart, how you show God’s love and share God’s truth, can last beyond a lifetime in the lives of others. The reflection of God’s character through you is what really makes you beautiful and desirable.

Therefore, go take your next step into the world and be beautiful!

God > Human Plans

“For the Lord had caused the army of the Arameans to hear a sound of chariots and a sound of horses, even the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.” Therefore, they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents and their horses and their donkeys, even the camp just as it was, and fled for their life.” (2 Kings 7:6-7)

God can thwart the plans of anyone and He can break through any obstacle. In this biblical event, the enemy fled and God’s people collected the spoils.
